Our Program

A Living, Classical Education at Cypress Academy

At Cypress Hybrid Academy, we believe education is the shaping of hearts, minds, and souls in the light of God's truth. Every child is a person made in His image, capable of wonder, wisdom, and virtue. So we choose beauty over busyness, truth over mere information, and love over performance.

Our program is classical in both its aims and its methods. Students grow in three great areas of knowledge: the Knowledge of God, the Knowledge of Man, and the Knowledge of the Universe. Each day begins with worship and Scripture, moves through literature, language, history, and the arts, and makes room for quiet time in God's creation.

A young child at home with a yellow sleeve is reading a colorful illustrated book at a table. The child's face is turned away from the camera, focusing on the book.

Learning That Connects

Early Education Program (Jr. K–K). Our early education program cultivates children's natural curiosity and wonder. Students practice attentive listening, hands-on projects, and outdoor nature study. They build the foundations of reading, writing, and math, and recite Scripture, hymns, folk songs, and memory chants.

Little Oaks (Grades 1–2) and Cedar (Grades 3–4). In the heart of the grammar years, students build a strong foundation of knowledge, language, and virtue. Classes combine two grades, which builds community and lets each child learn at the right level. As Cypress grows, we look forward to adding classes while keeping our close-knit spirit.

How We Teach

The classical tradition gives us our goals and our structure: the liberal arts, the grammar stage, great books, Latin, and the formation of virtue. In the classroom, that looks like:

  • Living books in history, geography, art, music, and language arts, instead of dry textbooks

  • Narration, where children tell back what they learned in their own words

  • Short, focused lessons that build the habit of full attention

  • Nature study, art study, and composer study

  • Recitation of Scripture and poetry
